Streptococcus: Valinka (15) was attacked by bacteria, lost her limbs

Before Valinka fell ill, she was very active and full of energy. She loved to dance, in which she had competitive success from an early age, she was preparing for admissions to the high school of tourism and had many plans and dreams before she became seriously ill. Last year, just a week before Christmas, her body was attacked by a serious infection, which manifested itself in the fact that she began to choke, felt pain in her chest and complained of numbness in her limbs.

Overgrown bacteria

After being taken to the emergency room, doctors discovered an overgrowth of pyogenic streptococcus in Valinka, which resulted in severe blood poisoning and failure of vital organs. They put the girl into artificial sleep and let the parents, who are raising three more daughters, know that they cannot save Valinka. They said she only had a few hours to live. But she surprised everyone. She struggled and woke up from artificial sleep. Unfortunately with severe consequences.

After birthday amputation

Due to infection and insufficient blood supply, the girl’s limbs began to mummify. Valinka had to undergo an amputation in March, a few days after blowing out the candles on her 15th birthday cake. “Both of her legs were removed below the knee, her right hand was amputated to half the palm, and her left hand was shortened by the fingers,” Kristýna Trpková, a friend of the girl’s family, described.

Collection for prostheses

Valinka spent four months in the hospital and shows everyone that she is full of courage, optimism and faith that she will return to school, frolic, dance and travel again. But it will be a difficult journey with the necessity of 24-hour expensive care and the purchase of medical equipment. However, the insurance company does not cover all expenses.

Therefore, a collection on the website znesnaze21.cz was established for rehabilitation, therapy, aids and, above all, high-quality prostheses for Valinka’s mobility and independence. She set herself the goal of collecting 200,000 crowns, people have already sent the girl more than twice that amount.
