Stephano Carrillo will play in the U-20 World Cup

Santos Laguna will not be able to count on the youth forward Stephano Carrillo, selected to play for Mexico, in the Concacaf Under-20 World Cup at the start of the Apertura 2024 of Liga MX.

And the task of the Mexican U-20 National Team, led by Eduardo Arce, is to get one of the four tickets for the Chile 2025 World Cup, in the qualifying round that will take place in the state of Guanajuato.

It is worth remembering that last year, the attacker from Cuencamé, Durango, had an outstanding performance with the Tricolor U-17 in the Pre-World Championship of the category, scoring in all instances of the contest, which concluded with the title of the Mexican representative.

The Aztec team will hold a concentration from June 30 to July 10 in Mexico City, at the facilities of the Mexican Soccer Federation (Femexfut). During this stage, the Tricolor will face two preparation matches.

As for the first, it will be against the Third Professional Division National Team (TDP) on July 7, while the second against the Cruz Azul U-23 youth team, on July 10.

Subsequently, they will move to Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, to continue their training from July 11 to 18, culminating with a match against Atlético Morelia on the 13th. On July 19, the team will travel to Guanajuato to begin their participation in the Pre-World Cup, since on the 21st, they will face Haiti.

Subsequently, they will face Guatemala on the 24th, and will close the group stage against Panama.

All of Mexico’s matches in the first round will be played at the Sergio León Chávez Stadium in Irapuato. Stephano Carrillo, who began his path at the Santos Peñoles Training Center in Velardeña, joined the basic forces of Santos Laguna in the 2019 Spring Tournament with the U-13 team.

Throughout his time in the Albiverde quarry, he has played in the Under-16, Under-18 and Under-23 categories, until making his debut with the first team in the 2024 Clausura Tournament, on matchday 7 against Pumas.
