Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca shared the latest situation regarding the patients who became ill after treatment at the dialysis center at Burdur State Hospital and 3 of whom died. Koca stated that as of today, there are no patients left intubated, and added, “The treatment of 14 of our patients continues. 16 of our patients have been discharged.” he said.
Minister Koca talked about the process in his post on his social media account and said, “On May 25, 33 patients, 2 of whom were in intensive care, underwent dialysis treatment at Burdur State Hospital. Some of the patients who completed the dialysis session and were transferred home experienced dizziness, nausea, and confusion.” All patients receiving dialysis treatment were taken under surveillance in our hospital. Emergency evaluations were made and 14 of our patients, including 2 intensive care patients, were stabilized in intubation, 3 in Isparta, 23 in Antalya, 6 in Afyon. “One of them was transferred to Denizli with the need for dialysis and intensive care. The health conditions of all our transferred patients were followed closely by me.” said.

“During this process, unfortunately, we lost 3 elderly patients, 1 of whom was previously an intensive care patient, due to the effects of their accompanying chronic diseases.” Koca said, “As of today, we have no intubated patients left. The treatments of 14 of our patients are continuing. 16 of our patients have been discharged. The conditions of our patients whose treatment is continuing are improving. I wish them a speedy recovery.” he said.

Minister Koca continued his post: “I will continue to pay close attention to every aspect of this sad incident at Burdur State Hospital. The judicial and administrative investigation processes regarding the incident continue.” said.
WHAT HAPPENED?
33 patients receiving dialysis treatment at Burdur State Hospital became ill on May 25. 23 of the patients were treated in Antalya, 6 in Afyonkarahisar, 3 in Isparta and one in Denizli. Patients Mustafa Demir (70), Saniye Aksöz (87) and Amina Abas Jama (67) died in the hospitals in Antalya where they were treated. Burdur State Hospital Dialysis Center was closed as a precaution and a judicial and administrative investigation was initiated regarding the incident.
