Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak directed concerned to take effective steps to make BTCL’s calling-service app ‘Alap’ popular among customers. For this purpose, he instructed to make Alap capable of making video calls to 20 lakh customers simultaneously, to make the app easy to download like WhatsApp through mobile number without ID, and to ensure the facility of making incoming and outgoing calls and receiving calls in the app as an existing landline number. He also advised the Department of Posts and Telecommunications on the steps to be taken to achieve the highest position in the national progress order in the progress of ADP implementation in the current financial year.
The State Minister gave this instruction at the department’s annual development program review meeting in the conference room of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Thursday (March 14).
In the meeting, the State Minister emphasized on the need to ensure maximum utilization of the unused resources of various organizations of post and telecommunication department including BTCL, TESIS. He said, ‘There is an opportunity to increase the income of the organizations by ensuring the fair use of resources.’
Department of Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, BTRC, Department of Posts, BTCL, Department of Telecommunications, Submarine Cable Company, Teletalk and Teshis, along with Heads of Posts and Telecommunications Department and various project managers were present in the meeting.
