Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır came to the fair for the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) Mediterranean Technology Competitions Final held at the Antalya ANFAŞ International Fair and Congress Center. Accompanied by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, AK Party Antalya deputies Mustafa Köse, Kemal Çelik and Tuba Vural Çokal, Akdeniz University Rector Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan, AK Party Provincial Chairman Ali Çetin, Minister Kacır made a statement.
‘AN EVENT THAT BREAKS ITS OWN RECORD EVERY YEAR’
Minister Kacır, who stated that they held TEKNOFEST, which they have organized since 2018 and is the meeting platform of the National Technology Move with the Turkish youth, in the Mediterranean cities this year, said, “We are here with nearly 5 thousand young people who were finalists in 25 of the 49 competitions. As you know, we started the TEKNOFEST journey in 2018. In our first year, 1 million young people competed in 14 competitions, in nearly 4 thousand teams. This year, more than 1 million 600 thousand young people participated in TEKNOFEST competitions by researching, developing and transforming their dreams into projects in 49 different competitions, in more than 770 thousand teams. In this respect, TEKNOFEST is an event that renews its own record and breaks new world records every year.”
‘Türkiye HAS AN R&D ARMY’
Minister Kacır, who noted that TEKNOFEST will continue to be the pioneer of the Turkish youth and the National Technology Move, said, “We have been observing with great happiness and pleasure that in the competition we have been organizing for 6 years, there are not only project teams but also technology initiatives born from these project teams. We always state that Turkey’s future will be much brighter by realizing the technology move, the National Technology Move and strengthening the R&D and innovation ecosystem. We have built technoparks all over Turkey under the leadership of our President in 22 years. We increased the number of our technoparks from 2 to 202 and the number of companies operating in our technoparks from approximately 60 to 15,500. Today, Turkey has an R&D army of more than 270 thousand people. And with our young people who participate in TEKNOFESTs every year and develop projects there, we continue to add new soldiers to that R&D army.”
85 MILLION TL SUPPORT
Minister Kacır, who stated that they are once again by the side of the youth with nearly 30 million liras of award support and over 55 million liras of material and equipment support for TEKNOFEST this year, said, “Under the leadership of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation, as the Ministry of Industry and Technology and with more than 100 stakeholder groups, removing the obstacles in front of the youth and supporting the projects they develop are among the most meaningful things we have done. Again, this year’s TEKNOFEST is hosting many innovations. This year, we are organizing a quantum technologies competition for the first time. We are organizing a nuclear energy technologies competition for the first time. We are organizing an artificial intelligence large language model competition. We are organizing the second finance technologies competitions for the first time. We are organizing an air defense systems competition for the first time.”
ALL OVER TURKEY
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, who stated that an important decision was taken last month at the Defense Industry Executive Committee under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and that they accelerated the steps towards the local and national development of Turkey’s steel dome project, said the following: “Our youth, who are raised in all these projects, will continue to add value to the Turkish economy with the projects they develop in all areas of industry and technology such as defense industry, health technologies, education, agriculture, finance technologies, energy technologies. Of course, this year, we carried this excitement to all corners of Turkey by holding the finals of our different competitions not only in Antalya; but also in İzmir, Isparta, Mersin, Adana, Aksaray, Kahramanmaraş, Erzurum, Ankara, İstanbul and Kocaeli. But these finals, the 25 competition finals we held here with ANFAŞ, in this beautiful exhibition center of Antalya, are the moments when the excitement reaches its peak. And I believe that there are Aziz Sancars and Selçuk Bayraktars of the future here. We have many young people who will carry Turkey to the future and bring the dreams of Turkish youth beyond the horizon, such as Alper Gezeravcı, who will take historical steps and introduce them to our nation.”
