The stars of the teams participating in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 began arriving in Doha ahead of the start of the first edition of the World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world, as Hamad International Airport received on Thursday afternoon a number of players from the United States national team, as the first to arrive in Doha, in preparation for facing the national teams. US national team coach Gregg Berhalter announced this week his team’s squad for the World Cup, which included 26 players.
The United States, the host country for the 2026 World Cup, in partnership with Mexico and Canada, will participate in the 2022 World Cup for the eleventh time in its history, and recorded its best performance in the tournament during the first edition of the World Cup in Uruguay in 1930, when it finished third.

Berhalter expressed his eagerness for the start of his team’s journey in the World Cup, and said: “The draw placed us in a strong group, but our team has a group of talented players, united by team spirit, and they are ready to compete with all other teams. Berhalter and the US national team players expect to receive strong public support during the competitions that bring them together with the second group teams in the World Cup, through a large presence of their fans, especially after fans from the United States came among the list of the most purchased tickets for the tournament matches.
Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), said that feelings of enthusiasm overwhelmed the world football community over the past week, as coaches witnessed the announcement of the squad of players participating in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
He added: “This week, we are witnessing a wonderful event that has excited the enthusiasm of the global football community, with players landing in Doha and coaches announcing the lineup of players for their teams before the start of the World Cup competitions, in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm, rejoicing over their participation in the most important event in the global sports scene.”
