SSPC details that more than 1,500 weapons have been exchanged with Voluntary Disarmament

In total, he specified, 8 million 43 thousand 327 pesos have been delivered for the voluntary delivery of 849 short weapons; 573 long weapons; 236 grenades; and 2,2939 chargers, among others.

He explained that the Voluntary Disarmament program is carried out in conjunction with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), who has that power; while the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) is in charge of coordinating with states and municipalities, informing the population and inviting them to participate in this action.

Secretary Rodríguez added that the exchange modules are installed on an itinerant basis, which seeks to prevent accidents.

Likewise, cultural activities are carried out to promote the use of educational toys rather than war toys.

In June, exchange modules were installed in Boca del Río, Veracruz; Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca; Tijuana, Baja California, and Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

The plan begins this Tuesday in the capital of Zacatecas, and in the next few days in Puebla; Cuernavaca, Morelos; Tulum, Quintana Roo; San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco; Manzanillo, Colima; Tultitlán, State of Mexico, and Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí.
