SPORTS: Nabi becomes number 1 T20 all-rounder by defeating Shakib, Suryakumar remains on top in batting rankings

SPORTS : Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi has overtaken Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan to become the number 1 all-rounder in T20. India’s flamboyant batsman Suryakumar Yadav has maintained his number one position among batsmen after the ICC released the updated ranking list on Wednesday. ONE Afghanistan have maintained their unbeaten run in the ongoing T20 World Cup. They beat Uganda and New Zealand in Group C. Nabi has been one of their star players and was rewarded for his stellar performances with bat and ball. The 39-year-old Nabi reached the top of the rankings after taking 2 wickets against New Zealand in Guyana. In a major reshuffle at the top, Nabi jumped two places to the top spot. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis jumped three places to second place. Earlier, No. 1 Bangladesh BAN Shakib Al Hasan slipped to fifth place. Surya Kumar Yadav retained the top spot in the T20I batsmen’s rankings. Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz achieved the highest ranking of his career after reaching 12th place. He scored 156 runs in two innings in the T20 World Cup RUNSPakistan captain Babar Azam has reached third place, while England captain Jos Buttler has secured fifth position in the latest rankings. Australia opener Travis Head has entered the top 10 by moving up six places to tenth position.

England’s Adil Rashid tops T20I bowlers rankings RASHIDis at the top and Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga is in second place. Afghanistan duo Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi moved up to third and fourth positions respectively. South African pacer Anrich Nortje is equal with Farooqi at fourth place. Afghanistan captain Rashid has taken six wickets in two matches. His compatriot Farooqi is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with nine wickets in two matches. Nortje is the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with eight wickets in the same number of matches. Bangladesh trio Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain performed impressively and moved up to 13th, 19th and 30th positions respectively.
