Sporting Cristal beat Comerciantes Unidos 1-0, but failed to win the Apertura Tournament

Although the ‘celestes’ obtained the victory in Cajamarca, they did not manage to win the Apertura Tournament due to the overwhelming victory of Universitario over Los Chankas by 4-0

Sporting Cristal managed to beat Comerciantes Unidos with a tight score of 1-0. Despite this victory, The result was not enough to secure them the Apertura Tournament.

From the opening whistle, Sporting Cristal showed their determination by going on the attack in search of the rival goal. Despite his initial offensive, Comerciantes Unidos did not let themselves be intimidated and took control of the ball, trying to surprise his opponents. Ten minutes into the game, Dubán Palacio had a clear opportunity to open the scoring with a powerful shot, however, his shot deflected off the target, thus preventing the goal for his team.

The light blue team did not take long to respond and after fourteen minutes of play, Jostin Alarcón put the local team on alert with a powerful shot from outside the area, almost managing to open the scoring in Cajamarca.

Despite the pressure from both teams, Comerciantes Unidos and Sporting Cristal cannot find the goal. In the 30th minute, Jesús Pretell (Sporting Cristal) receives the first yellow card of the match for a foul against Matías Sen. Meanwhile, under the direction of Enderson Moreira, Sporting Cristal continues to put pressure on its opponent. Despite their advantage, the ‘celestes’ cannot widen the difference and are left without the Apertura Tournament for the moment.
