The construction of the Khe Tre temporary market (Nam Dong district, Thua Thien Hue province) is being accelerated, and it is expected that by May 30, small traders will be able to trade.
Leaders of the Construction Investment Project Management Board in Nam Dong district (Thua Thien Hue province) said they are urging the construction unit to speed up progress and soon complete the construction of the temporary market in Khe Tre town ( largest market in the district).
The project was started on April 12, with a total investment of 6.1 billion VND, constructed by Phan Nguyen Industrial Construction Company Limited (Phan Nguyen Company).

Up to now, the construction unit has completed the foundation of the main market communal house and prepared materials to complete the secondary market communal house. It is expected that by May 30, the construction will be completed and small business households will be arranged into 2 existing communal houses to do business and trade.
The plan to arrange and arrange industries and business locations at Khe Tre temporary market has also been approved for separate areas, ensuring minimum area standards and convenience for small traders’ business.
Company representative Phan Nguyen said that more than 20 workers were mobilized, divided into groups and construction teams. Due to hot weather conditions, the unit has arranged reasonable working hours, ensuring labor safety, project quality and meeting the set schedule.

Before that, newspaper Dan Tri reported that at around 3:00 a.m. on December 3, 2023, a big fire broke out at Khe Tre market. The fire lasted for many hours and burned an area of more than 2,000 square meters, including the main and secondary communal areas of the market, causing damage to about 335 business stalls.
The fire caused no loss of life but caused great damage to property because small businesses imported a lot of goods for business at the end of the year.

After the fire broke out, the People’s Council of Thua Thien Hue province passed a resolution to support business households and businesses damaged by the Khe Tre market fire.
The level of support ranges from 5 million VND to 20 million VND/household, depending on the value of damage caused by the fire.
In addition, damaged small businesses also received support from many agencies, organizations and individuals inside and outside Thua Thien Hue province.
Nam Dong District People’s Committee has arranged a temporary market at the district’s bus station area and along both sides of Ta Trach Street (Khe Tre town), next to the burned market for small traders to do business and trade.
On March 12, Chairman of Nam Dong District People’s Committee signed a decision to invest in building Khe Tre temporary market.
