Spanish investment opportunities in Dakhla scatter the accounts of the separatist Polisario Front

The same separatist official said, in statements to the newspaper “Independiente,” that “organizing this forum serves Moroccan goals in the Sahara,” in his words, noting that economic interests cannot in any way be a justification for violating international law, threatening to take countermeasures. Meanwhile, sources from the Chamber of Commerce in the Spanish capital confirmed to the same newspaper their intention to organize this forum on the specified date.

In this context, Ismail Akanko, a researcher in political and international affairs, said, “The organization of this Moroccan-Spanish economic forum does not deviate from the general context that has come to frame Madrid’s position on the Sahara issue and the support for autonomy explicitly and clearly by the Spanish government.” Hence, this event is a continuation of Spain’s desire to advance relations between it and Morocco to more advanced levels, and thus benefit from the opportunities and potential it offers for investment in the Sahara, as it has become an international trade and economic pole coinciding with the recent royal initiative to open the Atlantic space to the countries of the world.”

Akanko added, in a statement to Hespress, that “the concern that afflicts the Polisario Front does not, in turn, deviate from the fears that it has always expressed following every initiative taken by the countries that mainly influence the Sahara issue. To return to making new alliances at the international level; On the contrary, it has become internationally isolated as a result of its extremism and extremism in its positions and its obstruction of all realistic and serious initiatives to resolve this conflict.”

Berknan explained, “Morocco was able to impose the foundations of its foreign relations with friendly countries and focused on these countries dealing clearly and without diplomatic ambiguity with Morocco’s full sovereignty over its lands. Including the Moroccan Sahara,” he pointed out in this regard that “Rabat and Madrid have moved to the stage of practical implementation of the road map and an action plan for the strategic partnership between them, which is working to encourage investment by Spanish companies in the Moroccan Sahara and creating the economic climate to achieve comprehensive development within the framework of economic integration.”

The declarant stated to Hespress that “despite Polisario’s opposition to organizing this forum and its protest to Spain, this matter carries a clear message, which is that Madrid recognizes Morocco’s full sovereignty over its Sahara and that Spanish support for the solution of autonomy as the only political solution means that Morocco has sovereignty and the right to Disposal of its desert airspace.”
