Spain reaches the second round of Euro 2024

The Spanish national team secured a place in the “round of sixteen” of the European Football Championship, currently being held in Germany, after defeating its Italian counterpart, 1-0, this evening, Thursday, in the second round of the second group of the tournament.

The Spanish national team raised its score to 6 points, 3 points behind the Italian national team, which is in second place, while the Albanian national team occupies third place with one point, superior on goal difference to Croatia, which is in fourth and last place.

The Spanish team became the second team to be guaranteed a place in the “knockout rounds” after the host German team, which achieved its second victory in Group A yesterday, Wednesday, at the expense of Hungary with two goals to none.

Riccardo Calafiore, the Italian national team defender, scored the only goal of the match for the Spanish national team, by mistake, against his own team, in the 55th minute.

In the third round, the Spanish national team will meet its Albanian counterpart, next Monday, and the Italian national team will play, on the same day, its Croatian counterpart.
