The court sentenced the parents to life imprisonment for killing their son for trying to rape their daughter in Ghazaria, Munshiganj. At the same time they have been fined 50 thousand rupees, in default of payment they have been sentenced to another year of imprisonment.
Judge Motaharat Akhtar Bhuiyan of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court announced the verdict on Sunday (March 10) around 1:15 p.m.
The convicts are Shamim Shikder (40) son of Lokman Shikder and his wife Hasina Begum (38) of Hossaindi village of Ghazaria upazila.
Court Bench Assistant Mozaffar Ali confirmed the verdict.
According to the source of the case, on January 8, 2021, the police recovered the half-melted body of a young man named Dobay Hasan (20) behind his house in Hossaindi area. In this incident, the deceased’s brother Hossain filed a case at Ghazaria police station and the police arrested the accused. Accused Shamim Shikder gave a confessional statement in court.
It is said in the deposition that on the day of the incident, the plaintiff along with his family members fell asleep after having dinner. The deceased Hasan sleeps alone in the neighboring house. At around 3 am, Hasan’s younger sister Sheela went to answer Prakriti’s call and he (Hasan) grabbed her. Plaintiff’s parents woke up to the sister’s screams and went to that room. They were angry after learning about the incident. Later, his parents and sister caught Hasan and cut off his private parts. When he died on the spot, he hid the body in the sink behind the house. The body was later recovered from there.
