Slovenia Officially Recognizes the State of Palestine

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reminded that Slovenia officially recognized the Palestinian state with the decision taken in the National Assembly on June 4, and said, “It is admirable that Slovenia officially recognized the Palestinian state with the decision taken and supported the fair and permanent solution of the issue.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the Slovenian National Day Reception organized by the Slovenian Embassy in Ankara at the Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum. Slovenian Ambassador to Ankara Gorazd Rencelj, foreign mission chiefs serving in Turkey and guests attended the program, which started with the national anthems of the two countries. In his speech at the reception, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the relations between the two countries continue in a rich diversity and that he is pleased that Slovenia has become a country that has weight in its region and global politics, supports its neighbors with similar ideals, and stands out with its principled foreign policy approach. Uraloğlu congratulated Slovenia on assuming the Non-permanent Membership of the United Nations Security Council since January 1, 2024 and said, “It is admirable that Slovenia officially recognized the Palestinian state with the decision taken by the National Assembly on June 4 and supported the fair and permanent solution of the issue. “On this occasion, I would like to congratulate and thank the Slovenian government and the valuable members of the national assembly, who are the manifestation of the will of the Slovenian people, for the equitable decision. I hope that this decision will contribute to our common efforts towards peace.”

Uraloğlu said, “Economic and commercial relations between our countries have been developing with increasing momentum in recent years. Our bilateral trade volume has reached 2.3 billion dollars by 2023. We will increase this figure every year. Turkish investments in Slovenia are the most concrete indicators of our excellent relations. Our region Having strong connections in the field of transportation has become an increasingly critical issue for Turkey. In line with their strategic positions, the cooperation between Turkey and Slovenia in the field is of particular importance. It has implemented important projects. Especially the road, railway, tunnel and port projects undertaken by our companies contribute significantly to the development of Slovenia’s transportation network. By encouraging our companies to mutually increase their investments in this field, we can realize new initiatives and projects together in the field of transportation. “I believe we can take it further,” he said.
