The local day of the honesty and integrity network organized by the Education and Prevention department of the Independent Anti-Corruption Office of Antsiranana was held at the large house of Communication and Culture Banja on Wednesday 5 last June. The slam competition was on the menu. In category A, five faculties and institutes participated in the competition, while ten high schools and colleges were classified in category B. “The misappropriation of public property” was the theme proposed by the initiators of the event. So each competitor must compose their rhymes in front of the juries for 3 minutes 59. Since they were all up to the task, the applicants did not make the task of the jury members easy… After the deliberation, two young ladies, Mosesy Luciana, student in second year at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Political Science of the University of Antsiranana, and Mandrindra Rakotoarivony from the Saint Joseph Catholic High School, will represent their locality in the final test which will take place in Antananarivo. These two winners wowed the audience with their well-timed words containing messages that made heads shake positively. They embody conscious youth, those who say no to injustice… Luciana Mosesy, a slammer well-known by fans of urban poetry, was able to summarize in 3 minutes 45, the crazy spending, the financial mismanagement, as well as the slowness administrative which are the main sources of the budget deficit in Madagascar. This 20-year-old student also attracted the attention of the audience with a good punchline “where is the money, where is it?” », a refrain from Christophe Maé (Where is happiness) that she borrowed in her prose. For her part, Mandrindra Rakotoarivony seduces the members of the jury with her clothing style reflecting the proud and rebellious Malagasy woman. His verses also beat up corrupt senior state officials. “ Cars with red plates are only intended to transport personnel, unfortunately this is not the case », the 17-year-old young lady alludes to the abuses perpetrated by the dignitaries of this country. Yes, slam, apart from its artistic character, is a suitable way to say what we think, what we see, and above all what we feel. Indeed, Slammers don’t need to go to the seaside to draw inspiration. Society is the source of their creative idea. To do this, the Independent Anti-Corruption Office encourages the youngest people so that they dare to say no to all kinds of corruption. Apparently, the message has gotten through. In short, the local Honesty and Integrity Network Day is more than a slam competition, it’s awareness raising!
