Like every year, Chile is close to making the change to winter time in the coming days.
This temporary adjustment means that the days will begin to dawn earlier, while the amount of natural light available during the afternoons will be reduced.
When will the time change be?
The change is scheduled for Saturday April 6, 2024, time when the clocks They must be delayed one hour, going from 23:59 to 22:59 in the continental territory of Chile.
However, there are notable exceptions. In Easter Island and Salas y Gómez Islandthe adjustment will be made at 22:00 hours.
On the other hand, the Magallanes region and the Antarctic territory Chilean will not experience this change, remaining in the GMT-3 time zone throughout the year, as has been the recent custom.
Exceptions:
- Easter Island and Salas y Gómez Island: delay one hour to 10:00 p.m.
- Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctic Territory: They do not change time, they remain in GMT-3.
Upcoming changes:
- Saturday September 7: The time is advanced by 60 minutes.
- Saturday April 5, 2025: The process of changing to winter time is repeated.
According to ADNexperts point out that the impact of this adjustment on the biological clock is minor compared to the change to daylight saving time.
Therefore, they recommend, to facilitate adaptation, doing physical activities in the early hours of the day and considering going to bed earlier than usual in the days following the change.
