Tripoli, January 23, 2024 AD (Al-Anbaa Libya) – The head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, signed, yesterday, Monday, in the British capital, London, a cooperation agreement with the British company (BDO), which specializes in auditing and forensic accounting, in the presence of the Director of the Department of Oversight of Libyan Investments Abroad at the Audit Bureau.” Khaled Aniba” and “Ibrahim Shubaili”, a member of the technical team for communication with international audit companies, a member of the Board of Directors of (BDO) and head of the company’s forensic audit department.
The media office of the Audit Bureau explained that the aim of signing the agreement is to strengthen the Bureau’s follow-up of Libyan investments and assets abroad, push towards improving their performance, and take the necessary measures to protect them from erosion and loss.
The media office indicated that the British company that was contracted with is one of the largest international companies specialized in accounting, and has offices in (164) countries.
The head of the Bureau stressed the importance of reviewing the Libyan state’s investments abroad, explaining the Bureau’s intention to seek the assistance of international expertise offices known for their competence in the field of auditing and review, and to benefit from their experience in this field.
For their part, both the member of the British company’s board of directors and the head of the company’s audit department expressed their thanks to the Libyan Audit Bureau, and their pride in working with it, due to its good reputation among Libyan state institutions, and stressed their keenness to ensure that the agreement achieves results consistent with the Bureau’s ambitions.
It is noteworthy that the Audit Bureau created within its organizational structure an office specialized in reviewing financial statements through communication with local and international audit offices. The Bureau had concluded the first contract with the international audit firm RSM in late 2022 in London, to review and evaluate Libyan investments abroad, and to train members of the Bureau in The field of investment portfolios.
