A team of doctors from the Regional Maternal and Child Hospital in New Lion made the separation of conjoined twins, who were born in that same hospital on March 15 and one of them is reported as serious.
Although the multidisciplinary team had planned to wait a few months to perform the procedure, it was carried out because one of the newborns presented complications and required ventilatory support.
After analyzing the case, the team decided to proceed with surgery, which was performed without any incident.
After the intervention, the minors were transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where one of them is reported as serious, but stablewithout ventilatory support and tolerating oral feeding.

For its part, the other is serious and unstable, with ventilatory support and a possible cardiac intervention is being analyzed.
This is the first time that a procedure of this type is carried out at the Regional Maternal and Child Hospital.
The minors were born on March 15 at 32 weeks of gestation, after their mother, originally from Coahuila, presented with fever and general malaise, which triggered premature labor.
Both are under close surveillance by hospital staff.
