Shoulder injury, Naseem’s World Cup participation doubtful

Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah’s participation in the One Day World Cup in India next month has become doubtful due to a shoulder injury.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is awaiting medical reports before taking a final decision on Naseem’s fitness and participation in the World Cup.

Naseem Shah was ruled out of the rest of the tournament after sustaining an injury while fielding during an Asia Cup match against India in Colombo last Sunday.

According to local media in Pakistan, preliminary scans on his right shoulder showed that his injury was worse than expected, but the board said on Saturday that Naseem’s health was still being assessed.

The board said: ‘The PCB medical team is monitoring Naseem’s shoulder injury. Medical consultation with specialists is ongoing to provide Naseem with the best possible care.’

According to PCB, the medical panel will decide on the fast bowler’s return to cricket based on further evaluations.
