Shooting at Taylor Swift’s boyfriend’s parade, 15 casualties

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 2024 victory parade, in which Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce was also present, turned into a disaster after at least 15 people were injured by gunfire.

However, the happy and vibrant atmosphere suddenly turned into chaos as soon as Travis Kelce and teammate Patrick Mahomes announced winning the NFL championship on stage.

According to American media, a shooting occurred during a parade at Union Station, leaving many people shot, some even killed.

Marcus’s reporter Fox News wrote on X (Twitter) at about 3:27 p.m. (local time) on the same day: “One person died and at least 9 were injured in a shooting in the Downtown KC neighborhood. Kansas City Police Department arrested 3 people.”

Dia Wall, a local news anchor, also told X that police confirmed 10 people were victims of the shooting, many of whom were children being treated at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Local news agency KSHB 41 reported thousands of fans and parents trying to get their children out of the dangerous area in panic.

On the same day, Kansas City Police reported gunshots: “Police are working to clear Union Station. We will release everyone inside the building upon completion. We are still trying to determine the number of shooting victims.”

Police added that they arrested two armed people (one of whom is believed to be a fan) for further investigation. However, information about the suspects has not been disclosed.

The officers did not forget to warn parade participants: “Anyone nearby should leave the area as quickly and safely as possible to facilitate treatment for the shooting victims. Please avoid the Union Station parking garage area to allow emergency services personnel to pass.”

Latest update of CNN said Kansas City Fire Department spokesman Michael Hopkins confirmed one person died and 14 were injured. Of these, 3 victims are in critical condition, 5 have serious injuries and 1 person’s life is not in danger.

Mayor Quinton Lucas also announced that the players and staff of the Kansas City Chiefs are safe. The cause of the shooting is unknown at this time.

Elsewhere, Travis Kelce attended the celebration with his biological mother, Donna Kelce. Photos and videos of the parade show the male player hugging his mother while sitting on a double-decker bus.

On this special occasion, Taylor was not present to celebrate with her boyfriend of the same age. She took a private jet to Melbourne, Australia, to continue the international leg of the tour Eras Tour. She performed 3 consecutive nights at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from February 16 to 18.
