Desserts sold in cafes and restaurants can contain dangerous amounts of sugar.
Publika.az “Daily Mail” reported on this with reference to the British public organization “Action on Sugar”, which investigates the effects of sugar on people.
It was noted that they analyzed more than 700 desserts and drinks in British catering establishments and came to disappointing results: some of them contained up to 133 grams of sugar. The results regarding the “health benefits” of smoothies have not been encouraging either. By the way, the World Health Organization does not recommend consuming more than 30 grams of sugar per day, which is about seven to eight teaspoons.
According to Zoe Davis, a nutritionist at Action on Sugar, cafes and restaurants often do not display the sugar content of their products anywhere. Recipe cards with detailed information about ingredients are also hard to find online. At the same time, as shown by numerous studies, sweets lovers are at risk of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
