German ice hockey representative Tobias Eder fell ill with cancer. A malignant tumor in the forward of Eisbären Berlin, who contributed to the sixth place of the national team at this year’s world championship in Prague, was revealed by a sports medical examination at the club before the new season. It was announced by the Berlin club and the German Hockey Association. Eder immediately began treatment.
“At a moment like this, sport goes completely aside. Tobi’s illness shocked us all,” said Eisbären managing director Thomas Bothstede. “It has affected everyone at the club and we still have to process it. Eder and his entire family will have all the support they need from us to recover.” added the official of the ten-time German champion.
Eder came to the club last year from Düsseldorf and immediately won the title with him. In the regular part of the league, he scored 22 goals in 52 matches.
