Shock for the doping sinner Valieva: A crushing dismissal!

She hasn’t even come of age yet, but she’s already one of the most controversial figure skaters in the world. But to make matters worse, Kamila Valijevová (17), who tested positive for doping, now experienced another shock. She had to listen to an uncompromising verdict!

Figure skater Kamila Valijeva lost her place in the Russian national team after a four-year ban for doping. The Russian Ministry of Sports excluded her from the selection, RIA Novosti reported. Valijeva had a positive test at the Russian championship in December 2021, the CAS sports arbitration imposed a four-year ban on her at the end of this January.

The exclusion of Valieva from the national team was confirmed by the general director of the Russian figure skating federation, Alexander Kogan. “Valijeva is not part of the national team now. Everything was done in accordance with the regulations,” he told the TASS agency.

The now 17-year-old Valijeva last competed in a major international event at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where her positive test for trimetazidine came to light. Because of this, the results of the team competition, in which Valieva helped Russia to victory, are still awaited.

She was disqualified from the Olympics, and the Russian selection dropped to bronze behind the USA and Japan. Following the decision of the international federation ISU, fourth place Canada remained just behind him, but it appealed against it. She demands the addition of two points for improving her position after the elimination of Valieva, which would mean a move to third place ahead of Russia.

Valijeva also lost the 2022 European title and fourth place in the individual Olympic competition. From the beginning of March 2022, Russian and Belarusian figure skaters are not allowed to compete on the international stage, as the ISU expelled them due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This punishment is still in effect. Valijeva is suspended until December 2025, when she will be 19 years old.
