Shireen Akhtar became the fastest human in the country for the 15th time by winning gold in 100m on the first day of the National Athletics Championship.
Bangladesh Navy’s women athlete won three more golds on the second and final day on Saturday. Among them, he holds the gold in 200 meters, breaking his own record. He won two other golds in the 100m and 400m relay on the final day.
In 200m, Shireen Akter set a national record with a time of 24.68 seconds. His record timing in 2021 was 24.97 seconds. Bangladesh Army’s Sharifa Khatun won silver in 200m. Bangladesh Navy’s Kavita Roy came third. He clocked 26.25 seconds.
Bangladesh Navy’s Zaheer Raihan kept the gold in boys’ 200m. With a time of 21.52 seconds, he defeated Masum Miya of Bangladesh Army. Masum took 22.00 seconds.
Shirin led Bangladesh Navy to win gold in 100m relay with a time of 48 seconds. Bangladesh Sports Education Institute (BKSP) came second in Shirin’s relay.
Bangladesh Navy’s Mahfuzur Rahman won gold in boys’ high jump. He jumped 2 meters. Bangladesh Army’s Swapan Biswas jumped 1.95m to win the silver.
Bangladesh Army’s Ritu Akhter won gold by setting a new record in girls’ high jump. He won the gold by jumping 1.76 meters. Umm Hafsa Rumki of the same institution won silver with a jump of 1.65m.
After finishing this year’s championships with four golds, Shirin Akhtar said in response, ‘This feeling can never be explained. All people have their own feelings. There are many wonderful things, there are many stories behind, there are also hardships. There are obstacles. My coach Abdullah Hail Kafi, BKSP, Bangladesh Navy has given me tremendous support.’

Results of girls’ 400m relay postponed
Bangladesh Athletics Federation created extreme drama on the last day of National Athletics. The results of the girls’ 400m relay have been postponed. As a result, Shireen Akhtar’s 4 golds are currently 3.
The federation did not give any explanation as to why the result was postponed. No one could be found responsible even after calling. The federation cleared the responsibility with a press release at 10:15 pm.
Later, General Secretary of the Federation, Abdur Raqib Montu, said that the results were postponed due to people entering the track before the relay was finished.
