I hoped that this film would achieve some success with the public, for reasons some of which go beyond the text, because it expresses an unconscious prejudice towards both Khaled El-Sawy and Sherif Mounir, as they are members of my generation, and I follow them with a undeniable dose of positivity, even if I never controlled myself in supporting them, at all times. The line, except only if they excelled. They are definitely the last solid generation, from what I once described as standing (on the ladder) between two generations, the first being Adel and Mahmoud (Yassin and Abdel Aziz) and Zaki and Nour, from the late eighties, and they tried – by them I also mean the late Mamdouh Abdel Halim and Hisham Selim. Saleh, to reach the top and have their names at the top of the ads. Of course there are other names. They were trying to embrace celebrity, and when it came to them, suddenly, in the late nineties At the beginning of the third millennium, another generation’s celebrity emerged, like Mohamed Henedy, Mohamed Saad, Ahmed Al- Sakka, Karim Abdel Aziz and Ahmed Ezz. And others, and the film championships began to be tracked for the next generation. , and they became unscheduled.
In hotels, the description given to Sharif and Khaled’s generation applies: “the enchanted floor”. It is neither the lobby nor the first floor, but its existence cannot be denied, even if it does not even have a notarized and recognized certificate attesting to its existence. digital presence. He is waiting (on the stairs).
It is definitely a risk for a producer to think of betting on both, without putting into the equation the name of a box office star, male or female, for whom the public will buy a ticket, but (this is what happened).
However, a good step-by-step film can achieve cumulative success, regardless of the presence of a star name.
The most important weapon the film has is verbal propaganda, which plays its role in convincing the viewer to buy the ticket. People in their relationship with the cinematographic film apply the rule (ask an expert person), they ask first (an expert person) who has just seen the film and I ask him, and I imagine that the answers have not been positive, and so I played a negative role in the ticket clipping risk.
The most important situation in this tape is the absence of a script and the inability to find a way out – this is the first and most important lost battle (why do you live it alone?).
Written by Ahmed Abdel Aziz and directed by Hossam El Gohary, the film is the beginning of the contract between the audience and the screen, suggesting to us viewers that we are in the process of a musical treatment and that it is definitely a positive look. But you discover that it’s just a (random) movie that means nothing. We saw some scenes. It includes playing and singing, but does not give the film any special features, which confirms the absence of logic in the artistic work.
The depth of the idea that the director based on is that we have to live life, and in all stages of life we welcome the new and open the door wide to everything that is coming. The first negative sign of aging is the fear of facing something new that we were not familiar with before in our lives.
The date of birth remains a number in the passport, and so the scenario begins with the return of Sheriff Mounir from exile after the departure of his wife and the meeting with his lifelong friend Khaled Al-Sawy.
Khaled plays this character who is coming to life and doesn’t care much about the details which keep him away from interacting and even confusing with all the developments that life imposes.
After returning, Sharif faces a change in the pattern of discipline that was the constitution of life abroad, to the randomness that imposes itself on all aspects of life in Egypt.
Neighbor Mohamed Radwan enters, representing the Egyptian who lives for others, and rediscovers his old friendship with Sheriff Mounir. Even though the sheriff doesn’t remember him, he insists they had an old neighbor. This neighbor experiences the loneliness that he suffers from, those who are older. After his children leave abroad, he consoles his dog-like loneliness and spends all his time making others happy by practicing his hobby of photography.
The scenario did not find many situations that bring depth and reflection for those who live in that age group where impossible dreams multiply for a person, whenever he feels that each day of his life passes, he may not find anyone else tomorrow . everything he considered an impossible dream, the days that remain ahead of him increase within him, the desire to put into practice everything that in the past seemed far away, even beyond all imagination.
The idea would be full of creative momentum, if it fell into the hands of a writer and director, who possesses thought and imagination, but what I saw was just an attempt to fill the film’s time with scenes that could simply be replaced with others.
Even the emotional feeling that Sheriff Mounir had with his friend’s daughter, played by Salma Abu Deif, added nothing to the depth of the idea, but rather limited it, even suffocated it. He had to pay more attention to that creative flash, which forces those who live in that phase to unconsciously become more attached to the joys of life, before saying goodbye to it.
The scenario has twice resorted to the act of death to become the solution, on the basis that at this late stage of life it is logical to expect it, and then dramatically accept it, even without introductions.
So, Muhammad Radwan leaves, and in his farewell we discover that he is a Christian. At the beginning of the film, he was serving a dish (Achoura) to Sheriff Mounir. The deepest thing about that character is that he presented the next human, far from the category of religion, and from those clichés and general archives that are usual when the Coptic character is presented.
On the other hand, unfortunately, the script lacks in its scenes all the glimpses that flash when received, it is a direct narrative and presents a climax, namely the departure of Sheriff Mounir, becoming the worst dramatic solution with which the events could finish. , completely killing the film with his own hands and no one else’s.
Maybe the flaw was awarding the championship to two stars who didn’t have box office appeal? This is a hasty misreading, which on the surface appears correct, but in reality obscures the truth. it was possible that the film had the ability to attract, through its two protagonists, Sherif and Khaled, two common actors, if they were based on a work of art it would lack the magic of cinema, and at the same time also the creative abilities possessed from Sherif and El-Sawy would be absent.
(Why do you experience it alone?) Inside the room, the title transformed into a question repeated by the audience, which did not go beyond the fingers of one hand (Why do you watch the film alone?)!!.
