Sheinbaum defends Zaldívar’s permanence in his campaign team

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Despite the controversy in which the retired minister Arturo Zaldívar is involved due to the investigation ordered against him by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), the presidential candidate of Morena-PT -PVEM, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, defended her permanence in her campaign team and asked that if there is anything against her, the corresponding complaint be presented to the Prosecutor’s Office so that it can continue its judicial course.

“I see no reason for Minister Zaldívar not to continue participating, but what we have to discuss in depth is the powers that this Court is taking, now they are beyond any norm,” she said when questioned about the relevance of The former minister continues as coordinator of the Justice issue among the specialists who help her build her so-called “nation project.”

In a conference from Pachuca, Hidalgo, the Morenista reiterated: “He is going to continue participating, he is going to continue participating. And the bottom line of the matter is how is it possible, I repeat, that the Court, the ministers of the Court, carry out an investigation of this type, that is, the intervention in the electoral process belongs to the ministers of the Court.”

Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated the position he expressed since last Friday, when it became public that the minister president of the SCJN, Norma Lucía Piña Hernández, ordered the initiation of investigations against Arturo Zaldívar and some former collaborators, after receiving an anonymous complaint for conduct such as violating autonomy and independence of said power; sexual violence; Lack of profesionalism; illicit enrichment; bribery; abuse of functions and diversion of resources.

“What is the bottom line? That the Supreme Court, particularly the president of the Supreme Court, within 24 hours began an investigation of an anonymous complaint. It is not even going through the Prosecutor’s Office, hey!, as it should happen. A complaint is filed with the Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation is carried out, that investigation goes in any case to the Judiciary according to the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office,” she said.

The former head of government of Mexico City insisted: “The question at its core is that, how is it possible that, in addition, it is not only him, but several judges, that is, there is obviously a political use at this moment , of a power that not even the Judicial Branch, the Supreme Court of Justice, has.”

According to the presidential candidate, this issue is what should be discussed in the media and among the people of Mexico: “In other words, what privileges does this Court enjoy, or these Court ministers who, outside of any rule, initiate an investigation within 24 hours into an anonymous complaint? That is what is totally irregular.”

In fact, he accused that now the SCJN “are already the Public Ministry, they are the Legislative Branch, they are the Judicial Branch, all at the same time.”

And he concluded with the call that if there is something irregular about his collaborator Arturo Zaldívar, he should report it to the Attorney General of the Republic: “If there is something, a complaint from the Prosecutor’s Office should be presented, the Prosecutor’s Office should carry out its investigations and it should arrive. to the Judiciary to order, according to an investigation folder, whatever is available.”

“I think that Minister Zaldívar has to explain to Mexicans why what is happening is happening. And Claudia Sheinbaum, rather than pandering to him, should demand that it be investigated,’ she said in an interview from Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador also spoke in his morning conference about the case, in which he gave his support to the now collaborator of the candidate of the party in power.

“What is happening is interesting, I hope there is more debate, I am writing on pay per view, I want to know everything, the president of the Judiciary has many things to say, about former Minister Zaldívar,” he declared.

López Obrador confirmed that Carlos Antonio Alpízar, operator of Zaldívar, and who is being investigated for allegedly exerting pressure against magistrates to favor federal government projects, will remain as a Government official.
