In a press conference at Sylhet Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Shanto said, ‘Of course, it is a matter of great joy and pride for the family. Every cricketer has a dream to represent the country. That opportunity has been given by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, of course I thank them and I am very happy.’

Shanto admitted, ‘You have to run even if there is no captain, it is not something that you have to run separately if there is a captain. I think I am a batsman first and foremost, my job is to run for the team when I am batting. Then I will utilize the responsibilities that I have on the field and off the field. But I don’t see much need to be done as a captain. When I bat, there will be an effort to fulfill the responsibility.
