Shanta-Litton’s major decline in Test batting rankings – 2024-04-11 18:35:12

Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Liton Das have seen a major decline in their individual rankings after a poor performance in the Test against Sri Lanka.

Lytton was out of form throughout the series against the Lankans. He was dropped from the ODI team midway through the series due to consistent failure with the new ball.

He did not do well in the Test series after that. A total of 67 runs came from Liton’s bat in the four innings of the two Tests. He scored 4 and 38 in the last Test in Chittagong.

Captain Shanta scored a century in the ODI series but was still in Tests. He scored 32 runs in four innings of two Tests, 1 and 20 runs came from his bat in Chittagong Test.

After such a bad performance, the ICC Test batting rankings of these two have also suffered a major decline. Lytton dropped five places to number 29. Shanta has moved back 8 steps. The Tiger captain’s position is now 61st.

However, Muminul Haque, Zakir Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj have improved in the ranking. Zakir played two innings of 54 and 19 runs in the Chittagong Test and moved up three steps to number 75.
