American Ambassador Donald Bloom met Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday and discussed several issues of bilateral and regional importance, including the situation in Gaza and the Red Sea, the situation in Afghanistan and the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. Includes ‘which the Prime Minister took up in a vigorous manner’.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s House, partnering with the government on regional security, US support to continue economic reforms with and through the IMF, trade and investment, education, climate change and private sector leadership. Various issues including economic development were also discussed. The American Ambassador expressed America’s support for the key role of democracy and free press in Pakistan.

According to the American Embassy, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction with the current situation of bilateral relations. He stressed the need to maintain positive momentum through regular holding of existing dialogue mechanisms focusing on trade, investment, energy, health, defence, education, agriculture and climate change.
The prime minister said his government would focus on macroeconomic reforms to stabilize the economy and attract foreign investment.
In this regard, he also highlighted the role of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) which has been established to accelerate foreign investment in priority sectors in Pakistan.
Congratulating the prime minister on his re-election, Donald Bloom said, “The United States considers Pakistan an important partner and will work with the government to build strong relations between the two countries.”
