Ekushey Padak, the renowned Nazrul musician Shabnam Mushtaari, is receiving ‘Nazrul Award 2021’ given by the Bangla Academy. National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam has been awarding this award every year for his outstanding contribution to the research on the life and creation of Islam. This year, the Bangla Academy is awarded the artist Shabnam Mushtaari to spread the message of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam through Nazrul music. The ‘Nazrul Award 2021’ will be handed over to the artist Shabnam Mushtari at a function organized by the Bangla Academy on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the national poet tomorrow (May 27). This year, Nazrul researcher Professor Anwarul Haque will also be given the award for his unique contribution to Nazrul research.

Shabnam Mushtari was born in Naogaon. His father Nazrul Academy is one of the founders and founding secretary general poet Talim Hossain. Mother Mafarua Chowdhury was the editor of the women’s affairs page of the Daily Bangla magazine, fiction writer. His younger two sisters Yasmin Mushtaari and Parveen Mushtaari are also Nazrul musicians.
Shabnam Mushtari has a son, a daughter in married life. The boy is married to a pilot and daughter. Shabnam Mushtari’s two brothers Shahriar Chowdhury Data Analyst and Hasnain Chowdhury Captain of the aircraft.
Shabnam Mushtaari started his music career in the sixties. His 3 albums have been released in the modern and Nazrul. Notable among these are ‘Lily came to you’, ‘Best of Shabnam Mushtaari’, ‘Dear Kabir Dear Song’, ‘Dear Rat Rat’.
