Pakistan’s internationally renowned chef Mohammad Zakir Hussain passed away on April 21 at the age of 58.
Chef Zakir Hussain was one of the early chefs who introduced cooking on television as an art and not only presented traditional foods in a modern way but also made international flavors part of Pakistani homes.
Zakir was born on February 16, 1967 in Karachi. His father, Abdul Aziz, had served as a chef at the British Airways and the national airline, which saw Zakir’s fondness for this profession.
Chef Zakir’s younger brother, Mohammad Raza, confirmed his death and said, ‘Brother Zakir died Monday night at 8pm. He had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time and was undergoing treatment in the United States.
“Doctors responded a month ago, after which they returned home.”
“Before Eid, he arrived in Pakistan with his wife and married daughter, his example of his good morality is that despite such severe illness, he gathered his loved ones and arranged an invitation.”
According to Muhammad Raza: ‘Chef Zakir belonged to a family where cooking was not just a profession but a tradition, though he was the only family member who went abroad and studied in this art.
“He always mentioned his loved ones with love, including Sultana Siddiqui and Athar Dignity.”
Zakir was a simple, honest and loving man, said Chef Zakir’s brother Raza. Their conversation was softened, the tone of adoption and the work of work was significant. Not only did he give new dimensions to traditional foods, but also in international cuisine, according to Pakistani tastes.
“His TV shows not only scattered the taste in millions of homes but also taught me cooking.”
According to Mohammed Raza: ‘He stayed away from sports in childhood but had a passion for leadership. Friends often advised him, his other brothers were also part of the hotel industry and wanted Zakir to adopt the same sector. ‘

Zakir Hussain made numerous kicking shows on various TV channels, in which ‘Master Chef Zakir’ and other live programs gained unprecedented popularity.
Raza says, ‘His style, sharp and expertly prepare, and explain the synthesis in simple language distinguished them from other chefs. Chef Zakir wrote several kick boxes, including the combination of all kinds of food. ‘
He hosted a show called “Zakir’s Kitchen” on a private channel. Zohaib Alam, the producer of the program, told Independent Urdu, “I worked with Zakir from 2015 to 2021, spent every moment with them. Their qualities were significant in time restriction and love for work.
‘They never allowed the disease to become a hindrance to the show. Zakir’s expertise was that he had also staged demonstrations such as blindly broadcasting and preparing food. They didn’t even need to taste the dish they made, because they said that the taste was in my fingertips. ‘
According to Zohaib Alam: ‘Zakir often used to say that the synthesis of the dish should be such that a person belonging to every class could easily make it. They popularized all kinds of foods with Chinese, Continental, Desi with their easy recipes. ‘
He said, ‘Chef Zakir’s life was a combination of service, skill and knowledge. Today she is not in us, but her taste, taught lessons and her memories will always live in our hearts.

Their backbone includes wife, three daughters and two sons. Zakir Hussain’s funeral will be held on Tuesday in Asr Jama’at Rashidia, Malir Saudabad, while burial will take place in Saudabad Cemetery.
