We know Harry Potter, who discovered himself as a wizard from one day to the next. And then there is Percy Jackson, an American pre-teen who one fine morning discovers that he is none other than the son of Poseidon. There he was, a demigod in a T-shirt and sneakers, suddenly responsible for the fate of Olympians… and the entire world.

We owe this epic connection to Rick Riordan, an American novelist who had the brilliant idea, in the early 2000s, to transpose the myths of ancient Greece into the modern world. Thus was born the successful literary saga Percy Jackson, a triumph of children’s literature, soon adapted to cinema. To start with Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief 2010 which, also with Chris Columbus (Mrs. Doubtfire, Mom, I missed my plane) at the helm, falls a little flat – to the point of making this writer angry.
