Consumers are asked not to consume the affected loaves purchased on Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7. Upon presentation of their receipt, they can obtain a refund of the purchase price at the supermarket. This includes Aldi, Carrefour, Colruyt and Delhaize.
“During the repair of a leak in the pump for automatic dosing of sourdough in the fresh bakery in Barchon, it was discovered that a ceramic sealing ring had broken. Particles of that sealing ring may have ended up in the production process. Although ceramic is not toxic, any pieces may be sharp. That is why La Lorraine Bakery Group has decided, as a precaution, to withdraw the loaves from sale,” it said.
The problem has now been resolved and the breads that La Lorraine will deliver to supermarkets and customers from Friday are safe for consumption and will not be recalled, the company emphasizes.
