Şenkaya Mufti Veysel Çelebi was appointed as Oltu Mufti.

Oltu Mufti Veysel Çelebi, who started his duty, said, “I am very happy to be working in my own district. May our Almighty Lord be given endless praise and thanks for employing us in the service of our glorious religion. As the Oltu district mufti’s office, we will take part in all kinds of activities.”

Who is Veysel Celebi?

He was born in 1978 in Tutmaç Village of Oltu District of Erzurum Province. After finishing primary school in his village, he completed his Quran memorization in Çayeli District of Rize Province. He graduated from Oltu Imam-Hatip High School in 1997. He graduated from Erzurum Ataturk University Faculty of Theology in 2002. The same year, he started working as an Imam-Hatip in the Esenyurt Neighborhood of Pazaryolu District of Erzurum Province. He graduated from Erzurum Omer Nasuhi Bilmen Religious High Specialization Center, which he entered in 2007, in 2010. He served in Istanbul Sultanbeyli Ulu Mosque between 2010-2012. He served as a preacher in the Hınıs District of Erzurum Province between 2012-2013. He served as the Preacher in Bagcilar District of Istanbul between 2013-2015.

Between 2015-2019, he worked as a Long-Term Overseas Religious Officer at the Flers Turkish-Cultural Association affiliated with the Consulate General of France in Paris. Çelebi, who has continued to serve as the Bağcılar Preacher since July 2019, was appointed as the Şenkaya District Mufti on 11.12.2020 after successfully passing the District Mufti Exam held in 2020. Mufti Çelebi, who served as the Şenkaya Mufti until July 19, 2024, started his duty in Oltu on August 01, 2024.
