According to Tanisha Murak, since her childhood she wanted to work in the forces and help people. Her dream came true when she saw Rescue 1122’s recruitment advertisement for female firefighter.

Talking to Independent Urdu, Tanisha Murak said that after her selection, she was told that she would have six months of training in Lahore, so she should come to Lahore.

According to Tanisha Murak: ‘I had to go to Lahore for training, but there was no one with me, I had to go to Lahore alone. Everyone denied that a girl would not be able to do it. The training was semi-military training, but I thought I had to do it.’

He added: ‘We were given all kinds of training in Lahore. Training was given in various departments including fire fighting, evacuation of people, rescue of drowning people. During this time, I was very tired, but I thought that after the training I will be able to serve people.’

Ever since Tanisha Murak started working in the field, her family is happy that she is doing something that helps people.

According to Tanisha: ‘When there is a fire somewhere and people are trapped, they think that they might not survive, so they are very disappointed, but when we reach and pull out the trapped people, they smile at the life again and seeing that smile makes me feel tired.’
