FIFA has issued a warning to “Bunyodkor” club of Uzbekistan.
Publika.az reports that the institution has sent a letter about this to the local football federation. According to the decision, the club must pay the debt of 9.2 million euros to the Brazilians Rivaldo and Denilson within 30 days. In addition, receipts for additional fines and process fees were sent to the club. If payments are not made within 1 month, serious steps will be taken against the club.
“Bunyodkor” President Murad Aliyev commented on FIFA’s decision:
“We are negotiating with Rivaldo’s lawyers. We will clarify this issue. Yes, FIFA has a decision, we are aware of it. We will try to reach an agreement to achieve mitigation and avoid damage to the club. “Zeromaks” management was also contacted to find out what the situation was at that time.
At that time, the contract was not signed with “Bunyodkor”, but with the company in question. But there was an additional agreement with “Bunyodkor”. Rivaldo’s lawyers emphasized this point. “The issue of payment of this debt will be resolved by the club management – the state company “Uzbekneftgaz”, Aliyev said.
Rivaldo, the legendary player of the Brazilian national team, signed a one-year contract with the Uzbekistan club in 2008, but then extended the contract until 2011. Since the summer of 2009, his salary has been stopped. After that, he terminated the contract. He appealed to the court in July 2010. The player estimated his loss at 16 million euros.
