Sakarya Electricity Distribution Inc. (SEDAŞ) aims to eliminate the risk of possible shocks and power outages by taking isolation measures during the Kocaeli passage of storks that land on electricity poles.
According to the statement made by the company, various energy outages are being encountered due to the fact that the lines in the distribution activity area, especially the Kocaeli and Sakarya lines, are on the route of migratory birds.
In the statement, it was stated that precautions such as increasing the distance between conductors or changing the grid layout were taken in addition to isolating the pole-top equipment (isolators, jumpers, etc.) on energy transmission lines for storks, which often land on conductors and get electrocuted during migration, and the following was noted:
“Storks that are tired, especially in the evening, land on electric wires and run the risk of being electrocuted, as well as causing power outages throughout the city. With the precautions taken by our field teams on the power transmission lines, we continue our work to ensure the safety of the storks and to prevent power outages.”
