One week after launch, the Celular Seguro platform has already made it possible to block 3,896 stolen, stolen, lost or misplaced smartphones, according to a report released Tuesday by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) (26). The service is offered free of charge throughout Brazil.
According to the agency, the program has received 1,658 reports of telephone theft to date, nationwide, as well as 1,154 notifications related to device theft. There were also 851 cases of loss and 283 requests to block mobile phones for “various reasons”.

Launched on the 19th, the tool made available by the federal government as a tool to prevent smartphone thefts and thefts recorded 1,113 restrictive measures the next day. Again according to the MJSP, Sao Paulo is the state with the highest number of blocks on Celular Seguro, for a total of 1,011 alerts to date. Rio de Janeiro appears in second place, with 453 notifications, followed by Pernambuco (286), Bahia (272) and Minas Gerais (259).
More than 700 thousand visits
In the first seven days of operation of the platform, 700,697 people accessed the Celular Seguro app, according to the Ministry. However, only 513,098 visitors registered phone numbers that they would like to block remotely in case of theft, theft or loss of the device.
Access to the service, which requires registration on the Gov.br platform, can be done by providing your CPF. Each registered user appoints trusted people who will carry out the blocking on his behalf — 467.8 thousand trusted users have already been registered — moreover, the victim was able to carry out the procedure using a secure computer.
To register with Celular Seguro, simply access the service website or the app, which has a version for Android and iOS, and enter the required data. If your phone is recovered, you need to contact your carrier, banks and other program partners to reactivate access.
