Second Poetic Frequency Festival

A series of events with the presence of female poetry, migrants and indigenous peoples has been developing the Second Poetic Frequency Festivaldedicated to poetry and social imaginaries. This festival is distinguished by integrating new media through televised readings that allow it to reach more citizens and families, in addition to its roots in the territory, bringing workshops to public establishments in different communes of Santiago.

The activities will conclude with three days of readings at the Society of Writers of Chile (SECH) on the days September 3, 4 and 5. Each day will feature the participation of 10 contemporary poets of different styles, ages and themes, giving an account of a powerful diversityThe sessions will end with poetry set to music by Poets Martians, Cristóbal Gómez, Darkeza and Lux ​​Violeta. Guests include José Ángel Cuevas, Liz Gallegos, Camilo Brodsky, Jaime Quezada, Julieta Marchant, Carlos Soto Román and Carlos Cardani, Lilian Flores, Juan Cameron, Eva Débia, and Octavio Gana, among many others.

The entire festival will then be broadcast on SuyaiTV, a cultural channel with a radio signal and several associated local channels that will retransmit the programming throughout the country.

Organized by the Versolibre Foundation and funded by the Metropolitan Regional Government of Santiago, the Frecuencia Poética Festival aims to create a meeting space that articulates cultural networks and brings poetry closer to citizens, exploring its connection with other arts such as music, visual arts, editorial design and film.

The direction and curatorship are in charge of Gerardo Quezada and Mauricio Torres Paredes, who also supervise the edition of the event. The latter comments: “The festival was born with the idea of ​​giving value to poetry and bringing together the national poetic scene in an event that not only creates an important record, but also adapts to current times by integrate television and reading mediation, through workshops in educational establishments. We are interested in making visible what is happening and introducing different authors.”

The activities are developed in three lines of action: reading mediation in educational establishments in the communes of Maipú, Independence and El Bosque; a series of readings entitled “Poetry and Social Imaginaries” that have taken place at the Pablo Neruda Foundation; and the central festival at the Casa del Escritor of the SECH that will take place between September 3 and 5.

Frecuencia Poética seeks to make visible the diversity and cultural wealth present in the country, and to democratize access to poetry, promoting reading mediation in the educational field and in cultural spaces. One of its main contributions is dto keep a record of current Chilean poetry using new technologies.
