On Thursday around 5 am, a spectacular accident involving two bush taxis and a bicycle took place in Ankadibe, fokontany Ambodisaha, urban commune and district Ambohidratrimo. Four people were injured. Informed of these facts a few minutes later, elements of the Ambohidratrimo gendarmerie brigade immediately went to the indicated scene to intervene. When they arrived, the two vehicles were still in their initial position and the injured, three scouts, had already been evacuated to the Anosiala university hospital. Indeed, the police only had to carry out the usual observation while ensuring the regulation of the flow of traffic on this national road.
Carrying scouts
The accident, which occurred on a slightly sloping road, happened when a sprinter carrying scouts heading towards Ankazobe from Ilakaka collided with another sprinter and at the same time brushed against a single-wheeled bicycle coming in the opposite direction. The collision seriously damaged both vehicles. Minor damage to the bicycle. The four injured were the cyclist and three scouts including two teenagers aged 12 and 13 respectively. Coming from Ilakaka, the latter are scouts on their way to participate in the national camp for the celebration of the centenary of “Tilin’i Madagasikara” in Ankazobe.
Driver fatigue
Let us return to the circumstances of this accident. According to information from the gendarmerie, the recklessness of the driver of this bush taxi transporting scouts was the cause of the accident. Making a long journey from Ilakaka to reach Ankazobe, he drove alone, without resorting to a double driver. Tired, he lost control of the vehicle by committing a lane violation to hit the vehicle coming in the opposite direction. This incident should attract the attention of the authorities responsible for road safety control.
