In Maharashtra, Kajal Gond died after a teacher forced her to sit 100 times for being 10 minutes late to class. After the punishment, the girl began to feel pain, she was hospitalized twice, but could not be saved. The family accuses the teacher, Liter.kz reports with reference to NDTV.
According to her parents, the girl came to school a little later than the start of classes. The teacher decided to punish her and ordered her to do 100 squats.
“During the exercise, Kajal had a backpack on her back – according to the family, it was quite heavy, and every squat was given to her with effort. After the punishment, the girl complained of a sharp pain in the lower back. She reached home on her own, but her condition quickly worsened – weakness, fainting and severe discomfort in the back appeared,” says the source.
The parents took their daughter to the hospital in Nallasopara. There she was given first aid, but doctors decided to transfer the schoolgirl to a larger medical center in Mumbai.
Despite treatment, the girl died. Information about the diagnosis, presumed cause of death and concomitant diseases is not provided in Indian media materials.
Parents are sure that the tragedy is directly related to punishment.
They indicate that:
- the girl did squats with a backpack;
- back pain started immediately after exercise;
- Kajal had no serious health problems before.
The family is demanding an investigation and punishment for the teacher who prescribed the physical exercise as a disciplinary measure.
So far, school representatives have not commented. Local police began checking the circumstances.
