‘Sayco Compone Cultura’, music as a tool for citizenship

‘Sayco composes Culture’, is the new recreational program aimed at children and young people that will reach more than 12 municipalities in its first stage, and with which the Society of Authors and Composers of Colombia, -SAYCO- will contribute to the construction of good habits of social behavior by promoting the processes of citizen culture in our Colombian territories.

Its inauguration will be on October 31 in Sopó, Cundinamarca, with a press conference starting at 9 am, within the framework of the Month of the National Artist and together with the celebration of our children.

The program consists of the assembly of 10 educational stations, which will be visited by nearly 1,500 children and their families throughout the day, in which they will be sensitized on topics such as values, peaceful coexistence, respect, and knowledge of the importance of copyright, the contribution of music to the country, the most prominent composers and the relevance of Sayco’s work in Colombia.

It is public knowledge that the recreational offer in remote places of the country is not very high according to what was expressed by César Ahumada, Manager of Sayco, who assures that “our objective is to contribute to the construction of citizenship, through the promotion of musical entrepreneurship and hidden talents in the regions, so that we can encourage composition from an early age,” he said.

The children of Sopó will virtually deliver the mobile park “Sayco compos Cultura”, to the city of Pereira, where it will arrive in November as a second destination, and likewise, the children of Pereira will deliver it to Puerto Colombia, Atlántico, where it will arrive in December. The tour will continue next year taking into account Cúcuta, Riohacha, Villavicencio, Aguachica, Tuluá, Envigado, Duitama, Montería and Tumaco as the beginning of this innovative social program.

Sayco, aware of the importance of music as a social connector, has articulated with public and private entities such as the mayors of municipalities and intermediate cities, the secretaries of culture, education and social development. More than 6 thousand children will become the guardians of copyright, promoting new generations of Sayco citizens.
