Saudi crown prince accepts invitation to visit Iran: Iranian media

According to Iran’s official news agency, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has accepted the invitation of Iran’s Acting President Dr. Mohammad Mokhbar to visit Iran. Saudi Arabia has not officially confirmed this news.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Iranian acting president had a telephone conversation on Friday, during which Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also invited the Iranian president to visit Riyadh.

Acting Iranian President thanked Mohammad Bin Salman for his warm welcome to the Iranian pilgrims and invited them to visit Tehran.

Earlier, the former president of Iran, Ibrahim Reisi, had invited Mohammad Bin Salman to visit Iran.

According to IRNA, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his condolences over the death of Syed Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash with Iran’s Acting President Mohammad Mokhbar.

He said that this accident was very painful for us. The passing away of Raisi and similarly the foreign minister of Iran, who was a very close friend of our foreign minister, is tragic for us.

The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia said that the former Iranian President and Foreign Minister started the path of revitalization and development of mutual relations, which Saudi Arabia will continue with full force.

Mohammed bin Salman stressed the importance of promoting relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia for the region and the Islamic world, saying that the role of Tehran and Riyadh in the region and the Islamic world is fundamental and the development of their mutual relations is important for the region. It will make for a bright future.

Acting President of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Mokhbar, sent condolence messages from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on the death of Ibrahim Raisi and paid tribute to the colleagues of the former president who died in the air crash with the former Iranian president. And thanked Iran for the arrival of the Saudi King’s Special Assistant and Foreign Minister to attend his last rites.

He said: ‘We have lost two very important, influential and sympathetic personalities and other servants of the country and nation in this tragedy and their martyrdom has left us all bereaved.’
