Sarfaraz in the fourth chapter of India’s Test history – 2024-02-19 11:29:55

Father cried seeing his son’s Indian national team debut cap. Sarfraz Khan has paid the price of those tears of the birth father by going down to the playground. He played two excellent innings in the Rajkot Test debut against England.

Sarfraz played an innings of 62 runs off 66 balls in the first innings. In that match, he was the victim of an unexpected run out by Ravindra Jadeja.

In the second innings, Hankan fifty again. He played an unbeaten innings of 68 runs off 72 balls in this innings. In this, Sarfaraz came up in the fourth chapter of the history of Indian Test cricket. Before that, only three cricketers have the record of two fifties in two innings on debut.

Dilwar Hussain was the first Indian cricketer to score two fifties on Test debut in Kolkata in 1934 before Sarfraz. That too was against this England. Dilwar scored 59 and 57 runs in two innings in that match.

Then in 1971, the legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar achieved the same feat. He scored an innings of 65 and an unbeaten 67 in the debut match against the West Indies.

Shreyas Iyer became the third Indian cricketer to score two fifties on debut in 2021. He scored a century in the first innings of his debut match against New Zealand at Nagpur. He scored 65 runs in the second innings.
