In an operation carried out by the Bariloche Delegation of the Federal Police, the arrest of Matias Daniel Santanaa young man on whom an arrest warrant was issued by the Federal Court of San Carlos de Bariloche since October 2022. Santana was being sought for his alleged involvement in a fire in the Bariloche area, as well as for the crimes of attack on authority and usurpation of land.
Matías Daniel Santana, identified as a member of the Lof Lafken Winkul Mapu community, is identified as one of the leaders of the usurpations in Villa Mascardi, which placed him in the sights of the authorities for some time.
The arrest occurred while police officers were carrying out investigation and intelligence work in the city. During their work, they saw Santana in a car parked on a public road, accompanied by a woman and two minors. After requesting his documentation, his identity was verified and the current arrest warrant was verified through the Federal Police Communications System.
With the confirmation of the arrest warrant, Santana was arrested in front of witnesses and transferred to the corresponding police headquarters for the pertinent legal procedures.
The news of the arrest was highlighted by the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, who praised the work of the Federal Police in capturing Santana. “THE MAN WITH THE BINOCULARS. It should be noted that Santana is also involved in other events of judicial relevance, such as his statement before the court claiming to have witnessed the alleged disappearance of Santiago Maldonado, implicating members of the National Gendarmerie in the incident. However, these statements were questioned and could not be corroborated, highlighting the curious detail of the supposed observation of him from the top of a horse and using binoculars that were never found.
