Police seized seven motorcycles and four guns
In a shocking and forceful operation, the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri) of the National Police of Peru (PNP) detained 61 people in a bunker known as “La Caleta”, located in the district of San Martín de Porres. This action is part of the “Safe Dawn” plan, aimed at combating crime in North Lima.
The operation revealed a dark panorama of crime. Of the 61 detainees, 54 are foreigners with an irregular immigration status, with Venezuelan citizens predominating with 47 men and seven women. In addition, two Colombians were identified among those arrested. The intervention also captured five Peruvians: four men and one woman, all linked to dangerous criminal gangs.
Among the dismantled criminal groups are “Los Enloquecidos del Mal” and “Los Piratas”, the latter considered a faction of the infamous “Los Gallegos” organization. These gangs operated in a wide range of illegal activities, including extortion, drug trafficking, human trafficking and robbery. The magnitude of their operations left a trail of insecurity and fear in the community of Lima Norte.

The “La Caleta” bunker not only served as a refuge for these criminals, but also as a planning and execution center for their illicit activities. According to the Lt. Gen. PNP Óscar Arriola, chief of the General Staff of the National Police, “This is a location where criminal events are planned and where human trafficking is managed and administered.” The statements from the high command underline the seriousness of the use of this bunker, which also housed foreign women subjected to sexual exploitation.
During the raid, police seized seven motorcycles and four guns, key tools in carrying out their robberies and other crimes. The police operation not only hits the operational structure of these gangs, but also frees the community from a significant source of crime and fear.
The authorities have established immediate communication with the national superintendent of Immigration, Armando García, to begin the process of expulsion of foreigners detained in an irregular immigration situation. This joint effort seeks to ensure that those who have violated immigration laws and participated in criminal activities are deported from the country, thus strengthening national security.
The success of the “Safe Dawn” operation represents an important advance in the fight against organized crime in Northern Lima. The National Police of Peru continues to demonstrate its commitment to the protection of citizens and the eradication of criminal organizations that threaten peace and public order.
The community of San Martín de Porres and its surroundings can breathe easier, knowing that the police are active and determined to confront and dismantle criminal groups that put the safety and well-being of its inhabitants at risk. This operation serves as a strong reminder that law and order will prevail over crime.
