Not only journalists and Samsung partners attended the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 held in San Jose on January 17. Samsung members from all over the world, including Indonesia, also attended the Galaxy S24 series launch celebration.
Samsung Members is a community of loyal users of Samsung devices. Those who were selected were taken by the South Korean tech giant to Uncle Sam’s country, for no money or for free, to witness the birth of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
There were two representatives from Indonesia, namely Kristanto Nugroho and Joe Octavianus. How did the two of them get lucky enough to attend Galaxy Unpacked in San Jose?
Kristanto explained that Samsung Members always holds a Samsung Members Star every year. Samsung screens members to get 10-15 people, then filters again until you get people who have the opportunity to participate in Galaxy Unpacked.
“There are usually 2-3 people who go to Global Unpacked,” he said when meeting detikINET after the Galaxy Unpacked procession at SAP Center, San Jose, USA.
In the selection process there are many evaluations carried out by Samsung. First, member activity on Samsung Member. Secondly, each participant is asked to submit a content plan that will be created if they are selected to access Galaxy Unpacked.
“After filling out the form, we were given the requirements, including the content we would prepare while we were here,” Joe said.
Finally, the administrative preparation. While all costs are borne by Samsung, selected participants must meet administrative requirements, one of which is a passport.
Although the selection process seems easy, this is actually the first time Kris has been able to participate in Galaxy Unpacked. She admitted that she had participated in the selection several times but luck was not on her side.
“I participated in the selection several times, from 2018 to 2019. Only I didn’t pass before. There were only those in the top 10. Thank God, this year I managed to pass, so it’s like dreams come true ,” Kris said happily.
It’s a different story with Joe, Galaxy Unpacked in San Jose is the second time. He previously took part in the Galaxy Unpacked in South Korea in mid-2023. Nonetheless, he considered the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 experience more memorable.
