Representatives of the Communist and Socialist parties and social and trade union organizations arrived at the monument to the president in front of the presidential palace of La Moneda, where he died fighting the coup in 1973, in keeping with his commitment to defend with his life the mandate that the people had given him.
The Communist Party stated: “116 years after the birth of President Salvador Allende, we, together with the Party and the JJCC, reclaim his legacy, his relevance in the present and future. A tribute in the context of many challenges in which we fight for a better life for Chileans. Allende lives on.”
A delegation from the Communist Party, headed by its president, Lautaro Carmona, and the president of the Young Communists, Daniela Serrano, laid a wreath at the Allende monument and paid tribute to the President on his 116th birthday.
Various activities were taking place on this day in parts of the country, in publications and social networks, in memory and tribute to Salvador Allende.
Allende was a member of the Socialist Party from an early age, joined the Socialist Militias, was a student leader, was a scholar of Chilean history, Marxist philosophy, a prominent doctor, Minister of Health, deputy, senator, and elected head of the Executive in 1970, at the head of the Unidad Popular conglomerate.

He was born on June 26, 1908, in Santiago. He was the son of Salvador Allende Castro, a lawyer and notary, and Laura Gossens Uribe. In 1940 he married Hortensia Bussi Soto and they had three daughters: Beatriz, Carmen Paz and Isabel.
