Last Saturday (June 15), Karachi police said, a vendor was arrested from Gulberg Chowrangi area for selling fake teeth in the mouth of sacrificial goats. Police seized seven goats from him as evidence.

According to the police, they got information about the sale of goats with artificial teeth through the viral video. Action is taken accordingly later.

During interrogation, the detained businessman said that he was a resident of Hyderabad and had come to Karachi to sell animals for Eid-ul-Azha.

The police have started an investigation into the incident.

Relationship of age and teeth with sacrificial animals

According to the hadith, a camel must be at least five years old to be sacrificed. Cows and buffaloes should be at least two years old. And goats, sheep and goats must be at least one year old.

If the sheep and goats are less than a year old, but are strong enough to look like a year old, then it is permissible to sacrifice it. In such cases, sheep and goats must be at least six months old, but goats under one year of age cannot be sacrificed under any circumstances.

Since it is difficult to ascertain the age by determining the day and date, it is by Allah’s infinite mercy that for the convenience of the sacrificer, two teeth grow as a sign of the completion of this age. These are called age-determining teeth. These teeth are only a sign or a sign that the animal is suitable for sacrifice.

Even at full age, teeth can sometimes not grow. But age cannot be completed without teething. If two teeth are visible, it is a sure proof that the sacrificial animal is of full age. Therefore it is better to check whether the animal has two teeth for the sacrifice to be valid.

However, many animals do not develop teeth despite their age. In that case, the teeth are not a condition, but the animal can be sacrificed only if the teeth are visible or not. Basically teeth are not mentioned in hadith; Age is mentioned in hadith.
