Mr. PVS (living in Ea Tar commune, Cu M’gar district) said his family has nearly 4 hectares of durian and is expected to harvest at least 40 tons (about 3 billion VND) this year. However, about 2 weeks ago, there was a peak heat wave, so the young durian fruit gradually shriveled, then the first rain of the season caused heat shock, and has now completely fallen off. “This year, the investment cost is about 700 to 800 million VND but it is considered a total loss” – Mr. S. said bitterly.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Giao said that the district People’s Committee’s working group surveyed a number of durian gardens affected by the heat. At the same time, communes are required to compile statistics on crop damage due to drought to summarize and report to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province.
“We conducted a survey at a 15ha durian garden in Ea H’ding commune, planted by a household from Tien Giang, with a lot of experience in taking care of durian. The durian garden is very methodically cared for, and the leaves are very beautiful. , under the lush green grass, but about 40% of the fruit still fell, looking very sad. It is forecasted that the district’s durian output this year will decrease due to harsh weather” – Mr. Giao shared.
